Ben Rothwell Out Of UFC Fight Night 76 After Stipe Miocic Suffers Injury
As noted earlier on the site, UFC heavyweight Stipe Miocic has pulled out of his scheduled bout with Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 76 due to an undisclosed injury.
Ben Rothwell has decided to remove himself from the event as he has no opponent. The UFC attempted to find him an opponent, but no suitable opponent was found for him.
“No hard feelings towards Stipe at all,” Rothwell told MMA Fighting.com. “I’ve been on the other side of the coin. These things happen, and I’d like to hope that everything happens for a reason. Maybe there is a bigger fight for me out there.”
“I was very much ready. One hundred percent ready to go for next week.
“I will shed a tear being in that crowd. I’ve been waiting 16 years to fight in front of a crowd like that, so I will pray before it’s all over that I get that chance.”
Joseph Duffy vs. Dustin Poirier will go to war in the main event. The prelims will begin at 12:45 p.m. while the main card will begin at 4 p.m. ET.
UFC Fight Night 76 takes place on October 24, 2015, at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The entire event will air on UFC Fight Pass.
The UFC have yet to announce what the co-main event will be, but here is the current card for the event.
