Ben Askren Trashes UFC Rankings After UFC London

Ben Askren was looking to make a big splash at last weekend’s UFC London. For a minute there, he did, as his fan Q&A was crashed by British favorite Darren Till last Friday and gained several headlines.

But that was soon overshadowed by Jorge Masvidal, who knocked out Till in the main event the following day before giving Leon Edwards the infamous ‘three-piece and a soda’ backstage after the win. The victory justifiably shot ‘Gamebred’ into the top 5 of the division after knocking out previous No. 3 Till.

Askren isn’t a fan of that, however, voicing his strong view that whoever made up these rankings should be fired:

The undefeated former ONE champion made his rankings debut after submitting Robbie Lawler in a controversial ending at March 2’s UFC 235. He debuted at No. 6 and is looking to face literally anyone in the top 10 outside of his friend Tyron Woodley.

Askren is also keeping up his trend of commenting on anything and everything remotely relevant in the MMA world. He broke out his ‘Boom Roasted’ for Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes’ growing beef after TJ Dillashaw vacated the title yesterday:

As we’ve seen for months now, no one is off limits for the “Funky” one. That includes the voters for the official UFC rankings, apparently.

He’s making a name for himself as one of the sport’s fastest-rising stars. Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Askren is playing the game like few can.

Will he be happy with the rankings after his next fight?
