NSFW: Christy Mack Opens Up On War Machine Attack

Last summer for a few days, the MMA world was firmly fixated on the strange and disturbing saga of former UFC and Bellator competitor John ‘War Machine’ Koppenhaver and his girlfriend, ex-porn star Christy Mack.

The story went that War Machine had allegedly made his way to Mack’s Vegas home to surprise her with a marriage proposal (the two had supposedly broken up), but instead found her with a male visitor, which not surprisingly instituted a rather violent and deplorable response from Koppenhaver, who had not only been arrested but incarcerated for several violent crimes prior to the incident.

What allegedly followed was one of the most heinous acts involving an MMA fighter, as War Machine stands accused of beating Mack within an inch or her life, requiring multiple facial and dental surgeries that she is still recovering from to this day. Her male friend also received a beating that left him with wounds requiring medical attention, but unfortunately Mack bore the brunt of the oft-discussed assault.

The incident created a windfall of media attention and coverage when War Machine decided to go on the lam, avoiding police for days and even getting Dog The Bounty Hunter on his track. But he finally turned himself in to authorities, and has since attempted suicide in prison before dedicating his life to religion.

War Machine will face trial for his alleged crimes, to which he has plead not guilty, beginning on October 15, but Mack will open up with her first detailed tell-all on this evening’s (Tues., July 21, 2015) ‘Real Sports’ on HBO. Watch Mack discuss the attack on a trailer for the show heading into tonight’s episode above (warning: NSFW language).
