Bellator 72 weigh-in results for Friday night’s card in Tampa
Bellator Fighting Championships will host Bellator 72 from The University of South Florida’s Sun Dome in Tampa on July 20. The fights will be broadcast live on MTV2 and in commercial-free HD on EPIX. The night will continue the Season 6 Welterweight Tournament Finals as Karl “Psycho” Amoussou takes on Bryan “The Beast” Baker in the Main Event. Bellator 72 will also showcase the debut of knockout artist Paul “Semtex” Daley as well as a bad blood welterweight trilogy fight between Marius Zaromskis and Waachiim Spiritwolf. Additionally, the semifinals of the Bellator Summer Series Light Heavyweight Tournament will take place as Attila Vegh faces Emanuel Newton and Travis Wiuff takes on Tim Carpenter.
Only one win away from a guaranteed title shot, Amoussou knows what’s on the line July 20. In a Bellator press release, the French born fighter stated: “This is the biggest fight of my career. I’m going to win this tournament, and then I’m going to win the belt. I’m coming for Ben Askren.”
Bryan Baker, his opponent said in response: “I’m 100% focused on this fight and nothing else. I want to make this a professional fight and just put on the best show possible for the fans. I know Karl is going to come out aggressive like always, and I don’t have much doubt this fight is going to end with a stoppage. I want this Tournament Championship more than anything, and I’m going to get it.”
