Bellator 227 Pulls 276,000 Viewers

Henderson Jury Bellator

Bellator 227 pulled a lowly 276,000 viewers this past Friday.

The tape-delayed event aired on Paramount Network and was the company’s second-lowest prime time number of the year according to MMA Fighting.

In a way, it’s not surprising. The event took place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland and was headlined by a lightweight bout between former UFC fighters Benson Henderson and Myles Jury. There was no other major bout on the three-fight card.

Bellator Dublin took place earlier and featured the likes of James Gallagher and Michael “Venom” Page. However, that event aired on UK television and was only available in the US via streaming.

The lowest number for Bellator in 2018 was the March 22 show headlined by Emmanuel Sanchez and Georgi Karakhanyan which did 255,000 viewers. Overall figures are down 31 percent in 2019. However, that’s mainly because the bigger Bellator shows are now exclusive to DAZN as of September last year.

Still, Bellator was more than certainly hoping to do better than 276,000 viewers, especially as the event featured the promotional debut of Jury.
