Bellator 192 Results: Chael Sonnen Decisions Rampage Jackson

Bellator 192 is in the books tonight (Sat., Jan. 20, 2018) from The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Chael Sonnen in a Heavyweight Grand Prix Quarter Final meet in the main event. In round 1, Sonnen was pressing the action while Jackson was keeping his distance. They had a feeling out process. Jackson clinched with him up against the fence but then separated. They went back to exchanging but there wasn’t much action. Jackson was doing a good job at counter striking. Sonnen was able to take him down down and got his back in the final round then went to a guillotine choke to the end. In round 2, Jackson came out swinging for the fences then clinched with him up against. They trade shots in the pocket. Sonnen was able to score a takedown midway through the round and got guard. Sonnen started where he left off in the first round with control and strikes from top position. In round 3, Sonnen clinched with him out of the gate. Rampage worked him over with body strikes from this position. Sonnen took him down in the final minute of the round and kept there for the rest of the round. Sonnen was awarded the decision win.

Douglas Lima and Rory MacDonald in a welterweight title fight meet in the co-main event. In round 1, MacDonald went for a takedown right out of the gate. The local fans are clearly behind the challenger. Lima tried opening up with strikes and MacDonald clinched with him up against the fence. MacDonald was able to take him down midway through the round and got guard. Lima was landing some shots off his back. Lima was able to scramble back to his feet to end the round. In round 2, MacDonald caught a kick and Lima swarmed him with strikes. MacDonald let go and Lima clinched with him up against the fence. In round 3, MacDonald continued to control the pace by clinching but couldn’t get the takedown until midway through the round when MacDonald worked him over with strikes. Lima was able to scramble and get on top in the last minute of the round. In round 4, Lima was able to take him down and work him over with strikes. MacDonald scrambled to his feet but took him down to the round. A grappling session in full force.  In round 5, MacDonald was able to take him down and once again it was a grappling contest. Lima was bleeding from his right temple. Lima was doing a nice job of keeping MacDonald contained and not letting him pass. MacDonald was awarded the decision win and the welterweight title.

Michael Chandler vs. Goiti Yamauchi is next in a lightweight bout. In round 1, both fighters were using kicks to keep their range as they have a feeling out process. Chandler was able to score a takedown and got half guard as he worked him over with strikes from the top. Yamauchi was trying his best to get off his back but Chandler had great control up against the fence while landing some nice strikes. In round 2, Yamauchi was bleeding from his left temple. Yamauchi caught him with a front kick to the face. Chandler was pressing forward and landing to setup a takedown inside the first two minutes of the round. Chandler got in half guard as he continued the beatdown. In round 3, Chandler caught him with a good right hook to start off the round. Yamauchi attempted to take him down but got stuffed. Yamauchi was poked in the eye and there was a pause in the action. Chandler was talking some trash after this. Chandler swarmed him and then took him down midway through the round. Chandler continues his dominance while in guard on top raining down strikes. Somehow Yamauchi survived the beating. Chandler picked up the decision win.

Aaron Pico vs. Shane Kruchten is next in a featherweight bout. In round 1, Pico landed a big liver shot that dropped Kruchten, who got up after a brief stoppage. Pico landed it again and that’s the fight.

Opening the main card on Spike TV is Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Henry Corrales in a featherweight bout. In round 1, they came out swinging for the fences. Karakhanyan went for a takedown up against the fence but Corrales did well to defend and they clinched then separated. Corrales landed several right hooks while in the clinch. They stood in the middle of the cage and went off with strikes. Karakhanyan shot in for a takedown but Corrales stuffed it and they went back to striking. Karakhanyan was stuffed again when going for a second takedown. In round 2, they exchanged for a good portion of the round. Corrales was able to score a takedown and work him over with strikes from full guard. Karakhanyan was doing his best to defend and get to his feet, which he was able to do so with about a minute to go. They exchanged to end the round. In round 3, Corrales was able to take him down early in the round but Karakhanyan got back to his feet midway through the round. Karakhanyan clinched with him to end the fight. The judges gave the win to Corrales.
