Bellator 181 Results: Main Event Ends Due To Doctor Stoppage
It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday, July 14th, 2017) will come in the form of Bellator 181. Headlining the card are Derek Campos and Brandon Girtz, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the rest of the main card.
Derek Campos and Brandon Girtz meet in a lightweight bout in the main event. In round 1, they had a feeling put process early. Campos caught him with a good combo halfway through the round. Girtz was leading with his left hand and trying to follow up with his right hand. Campos tagged him with a right hand while Girtz was just throwing bombs but missing. Campos was landing a left hook with a straight right over and over. Girtz was bleeding from his forehead and scored a takedown. Girtz landed some elbow strikes, which cut open Campos from his right eye. This turned into a bloodbath. Campos got back to his feet while telling the judges that a knee strike cut him open. In round 2, Girtz stunned him with a wild combo. These guys were throwing bombs. Girtz stunned him several times with a left hook. Campos fired right back and hurt him with a combo. They stood in the pocket and had a wild exchange. Big John called a pause in the action for the doctors to check on Girtz, but the doctor gave him the go. We’re back to action. Campos landed a knee strike but Girtz knocked him down with a left hook. They exchanged to end the round. The doctor called off the fight due to Girtz’s cut. Campos wins by TKO.
Kendall Grove and John Salter meet in a middleweight bout in the co-main event. In round 1, they had a feeling out process early. Salter went for a takedown, but Grove reversed and took him down. Salter transitioned and got his back and landed some strikes then locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.
Emily Ducote vs. Jessica Middleton is next in a women’s flyweight bout. In round 1, there was no feeling out between these two fighters. They clinched right away with both fighters seeking a takedown. Ducote scored a takedown two minutes into the round but Middleton bounced back to her feet and they clinch again. Ducote scored a takedown late in the round but Middleton was able to get back to her. In round 2, Middleton was able to takedown her down early into the round and secured full guard while on top. Middleton worked her over with strikes while in the position. Dominant round for Middleton. In round 3, Ducote scored a takedown right out of the gate and worked her over with strikes from full guard. Halfway through the round she got full mount. Ducote was able to get her back and worked for the rear-naked choke, which she got locked in but Middleton was able to get out of it. Ducote went for an armbar but the bell sounded. The judges gave the win to Ducote by decision.
Opening the main card on Spike TV is Steve Garcia vs. Joe Warren in a bantamweight bout. In round 1, Warren comes out and secures the takedown quickly. He gets guard and works him over with strikes. With two minutes to go in the round, Garcia was able to scramble to his feet. Warren stayed on him with a waist lock and pressed him up against the fence. In round 2, Warren clinches with him right out of the gate and pushes him up against the fence looking for the takedown. Warren got the takedown halfway through the round and had top position. Garcia got to his feet with a minute to go but Warren kept him on the fence with a waist lock then took him down to end the round while Garcia went for a kimura. In round 3, Warren scored a double leg takedown to begin the round and got full guard. Warren worked him over with strikes to end the round. The judges gave Warren the decision win.
