Bantamweight Bout Nixed From UFC 235 Card

UFC 235 has lost a bantamweight bout from its lineup Wednesday morning. The Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed in a statement that Frankie Saenz vs. Marlon Vera in a 135-pound scrap has been nixed from the fight card.

This unfortunate news was announced on UFC.com in the following statement after Vera went down because of illness. As a result, the event will move forward with 12 bouts and Saenz will not get a new opponent.

“Due to illness, Marlon Vera has been removed from his UFC 235 bout against Frankie Saenz,” the UFC wrote in a statement. “The UFC 235 card, which airs live on Pay-Per-View and is headlined by the light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Anthony Smith, will proceed as scheduled with 12 bouts.”

The UFC 235 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here’s the updated card:
