Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva successfully advanced to the semi-final round of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix last Saturday, when he defeated Tournament favorite Fedor Emelianenko via TKO (due to doctor stoppage) between the second and third rounds. And though he hasn’t reached the final just yet, it appears the Brazilian already has an opponent in mind for when the time comes. In order for the bout to materialize though, Silva must first face the winner of the Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum match.

Vitor Belfort’s hopes of recapturing UFC gold were dashed this past Saturday night, when Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva knocked him out with a well-timed front kick to the face just over three-minutes into the open round. And while Belfort credits Silva’s training, he also suspects a bit of luck assisted in “The Spider’s” victory.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir and rising prospect Brendan Schaub have reportedly agreed to a bout that is expected to take place as part of an unannounced March 2011 card. With UFC on Versus 3 and UFC 129 both slated for the month of March, either event could play host to what will likely be a main-card Heavyweight clash.

Undefeated UFC heavyweight Cain Velasquez (8-0-0), defeated former UFC and Pride champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 110, cementing his place among the top heavyweights in the world and earning a shot at the division champion Brock Lesnar. The Mexican-American fighter came into the UFC with just two professional fights and less than 18 months of proper mixed martial arts training. On the verge of greatness Velasquez will finally get his shot at the title on October 23rd in Anaheim California.
