Arona plans to return in October or November
Ricardo Arona holds a record of 14 wins and 5 losses, when he fought in Pride Fighting Championship he was considered one of the best Light Heavyweights in the world, however he has only fought once in the last three years and is now planning to return to MMA after a successful knee surgery.
“I injured a ligament in the first round, but at the end of the second round, when I put my foot on the Octagon grid, I must have (torn) my meniscus. From that point on I felt a really hard pain, but I returned in the third round and fought standing up until the bell rang,” said Arona, who had surgery two months ago.
“In July I’ll restart my MMA training,” Arona said. “I got some calls from two American events. I want to be fighting in October or November.”
Arona was the first middleweight to defeat Wanderlei Silva in Pride, he has also beaten high caliber fighters such as; Sakuraba, Henderson, Horn, Mezger and Ninja Rua.
Arona will make both Lightheavy weight or Middleweight division interesting depending on which division he choses to fight in and will make for many exciting match ups such as; the rematch with Shogun or Rampage or a Rubber match against Wanderlei Silva.
