Arman Tsarukyan will look at money ahead of legacy if he wins title at UFC 311
Arman Tsarukyan has revealed he will look towards money fights instead of legacy ones as he prepares to challenge for the UFC lightweight championship at UFC 311.
This weekend, Arman Tsarukyan will battle Islam Makhachev in an attempt to capture his UFC lightweight championship. If he does so, he will become only the second man to beat Makhachev in professional mixed martial arts – and he will write his name into the record books forever.
The stakes are high, as you can imagine, but Arman Tsarukyan seems to be feeling pretty relaxed about the whole thing. He’s fought him before, and now, he’s ready to try and learn from his mistakes and go after the belt he’s always craved.
However, in a recent interview, Arman Tsarukyan gave a surprising answer when discussing what he’d be like as a champion.
Arman Tsarukyan to prioritize money over legacy
“When I win the title, the sports thing is done,” Tsarukyan said on the “Pound 4 Pound” podcast. “It’s going to start being just business, and I’m going to pick with who UFC pays me more. I’m going to fight. (It) doesn’t matter who it’s going to be. It’s going to be a business thing, not just a sport. Right now it’s the legacy, to be champion, and then business.
“After this fight, when I’m champion, I’m just going to think about money, not about being two-time champion or defend 10 times. I’m just going to think about money fights. I’m not thinking what happens after this fight, I’m just thinking after this fight. Maybe my father says, ‘You know what, you’re done with this sport. You won the title, come and work, make money with me.’ So, you never know.”
