Arman Tsarukyan closing betting favorite over Renato Moicano UFC Vegas 72

Ahead of their anticipated lightweight showdown at UFC Vegas 72 in April, emerging lightweight contender, Arman Tsarukyan is hotly closing as a sizeable betting favorite to defeat Brazilian challenger, Renato Moicano at the UFC Apex facility.

Tsarukyan, who most recently featured on the main card of UFC Vegas 66 back in December of last year, defeated Damir Ismagulov with a unanimous decision victory – rebounding him to the winner’s enclosure.

Boasting an impressive 19-3 professional record, Armenian-born grappler, Tsarukyan’s sole Octagon losses have come against current undisputed lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, and in a headlining clash, dropped a decision loss against Polish contender, Mateusz Gamrot.

As for Brazilian contender, Moicano, the surging contender also returned to the winner’s enclosure at UFC 281 back in November of last year, submitting Brad Riddell with a first round rear-naked choke at Madison Square Garden.

And approaching this month’s matchup with Moicano, Tsarukyan is widely closing as a betting favorite (-430) to defeat the Brazilian – with the former closing himself as a betting underdog (+310) ahead of UFC Vegas 72. Touted as one of the most promising prospects in the UFC’s lightweight division at the time of publication, dominant wrestler and grappling sensation, Tsarukyan had enjoyed a stunning run of five straight victories in between his decision losses against the above-mentioned duo of Makhachev, and Gamrot.

Also sharing the spotlight with another compatriot and former lightweight best, Rafael dos Anjos, Brasilia native, Moicano has landed victories over the likes of Zubaira Tukhugov, Jeremy Stephens, Cub Swanson, Alexander Hernandez, Jai Herbert, and perennial featherweight contender, Calvin Kattar. 

Opening as a betting favorite in seven of his Octagon outings, Tsarukyan opened and closed as a distinct betting underdog in his UFC debut against future lightweight titleholder, Makhachev – dropping a decision loss to the American Kickboxing Academy staple.

A perennial underdog who has upset the odds on occasion, Moicano has landed wins over the likes of Tukhugov, Stephens, Kattar – securing triumphs in each of those three Octagon outings.

17-5-1 as a professional, Moicano has been tipped as a dangerous grappler during his tenure with the UFC, racking up an impressive 10 separate submission stoppages over the course of his professional mixed martial arts career. 

In July 2014 before his UFC debut, Moicano defeated eventual promotional mover, Ismael Bonfim to win the interim Jungle Fight featherweight championship to boot.
