Anthony Pettis To Fight Eddie Alvarez At UFC Fight Night 81
It was rumored for awhile now, but today it was made official. Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will be fighting Eddie Alvarez at the January 17th UFC Fight Night event (UFC Fight Night 81).
Alvarez confirmed the fight on Twitter:
it’s official , at first I just wanted the guy , now I got location too , thank you @ufc @danawhite , gonna blow the roof off Beantown!!

Eddie Alvarez looked shaky in his UFC debut against Donald Cerrone at UFC 178, which he lost by unanimous decision, but looked very impressive in his fight with Gilbert Melendez at UFC 188, which he won by split decision.
Anthony Pettis will be fighting for the first time since he lost his lightweight championship to Rafael Dos Anjos back at UFC 185 by unanimous decision.
While it’s not official, this fight is expected to be the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 81.
T.J. Dillashaw vs. Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight title will headline this event. Also, this event will be shown on FOX Sports 1 while a few of the prelims will air on UFC Fight Pass.
