Andrei Arlovski Will Face Mike Kyle At WSOF 5 After Rumble Is Injured

News has broke that WSOF 5 main event fighter, Anthony Johnson, has been withdrawn from his September 14th bout due to an injury sustained in training. He was originally slated to face Mike Kyle in a Light-Heavyweight tilt.

Johnson’s last opponent, and former UFC Heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski has agreed to step in on short notice, and take on Kyle at Heavyweight. Arlovski suffered a four fight losing streak (three by KO) between 2009 and 2011, but then went on a four fight (and one NC) win streak before losing a UD to Johnson at WSOF 2.

I’m actually quite interested in seeing Kyle vs. Arlovski, the main reason being it’s a good test to see if Arlovski can still hang in the cage. Kyle is not a top tier fighter, and never has been, so if Arlovski can get a good finish against Kyle it would be a good boost for The Pit Bull.

Kyle has dished out his fair share of knockouts over the years, but has also been on the brutal end of some. Antonio Silva and Paul Buentello are on the list of guys who have put Kyle’s lights out.

So here we’ve got two heavy hitting guys, who have been finished, competing in the WSOF 5 main event. And I’m rooting for Arlovski all the way. The main reason for that is I’m not a fan of Kyle’s at all. What he did to Brian Olsen in the WEC was disgraceful, and probably contributed to the many negative opinions surrounding MMA.

Olsen will probably never compete again in MMA after the horrific beating that Kyle gave him, well after the bell, in their Heavyweight title fight. The beating included illegal soccer kicks and punches, which left Olsen unconscious and still feeling the effects to this day.

I could understand if it was just the once, but Kyle has proved multiple times that he is one of the biggest dirtbags dirtiest fighters to compete in MMA. Come on Pit Bull!!
