Despite a slight resurgence when he returned to the UFC in 2014, former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski has now fallen on rough times, losing three consecutive bouts. His latest loss came yesterday (September 3, 2016) via third round submission to Josh Barnett in the main event of UFC Fight Night 93 from Hamburg, Germany. When assessing the fight at the post-fight press conference, Arlovski simply said that Barnett was the better man, although he also claimed that he’s still a top 10 fighter:

“He was better man tonight,” Arlovski said of Barnett at the post-fight press conference I lost third fight. “Now I’m going to take some time off and come back stronger. At least he didn’t knock me out. He choked me and he has great wrestling skills.

“He was better man tonight,” he continued. “Thank you very much for the fight. Good luck to him in the future. I’m still top 10. So, it’s totally up to my managers what’s next for me and totally up to the UFC.”

Continuing on, Arlovski said that he’s going to take time off and discuss what went wrong with his team, but he also confirmed that he still has the ‘fire’ in his eyes, implying that he’d like to fight again:

“Not so much, but it is what it is,” he said of his effort. “Like I said, Josh was better man tonight. We’re going to sit down with our coaches. We’re going to see what was wrong during my camp and we’re going to move forward. I’m still top 10 and I lost to guys who next weekend are going to fight for the title. Another guy, Josh Barnett, he’s tough, no doubt.”

“I still have fire in my eyes,” he noted. “So, I’m ready to go.”
