Brendan Shaub vs. Lavar Johnson set for UFC 157

A heavyweight bout between Brendan Schaub and Lavar Johnson that was scratched from the UFC on FOX 5 card due to an injury to Johnson has been booked for UFC 157 according to MMA Junkie

The two 200+ pounders were set to duel in Seattle but Johnson suffered a late groin injury that forced him to pull out of the bout. Although the UFC scrambled to keep Schaub on the card, there were no suitors. Now, with Johnson healthy, Schaub will get his opponent in Anaheim on February 23. Both fighters are looking to get back to their winning ways as Schaub has dropped his last two against Ben Rothwell and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via knockout. Meanwhile, Johnson is coming off of a submission loss to Stefan Struve.

It’s not yet known if the fight will end up on the main card or the prelims but chances are that it will be seen on the preliminary card.

UFC 157 will be the first card to be headlined by a women’s title fight as Ronda Rousey will defend her newly minted UFC bantamweight title against Liz Carmouche.
