Anderson Silva will fight whoever the UFC wants – St. Pierre or Jones
With Georges St-Pierre’s victory over Carlos Condit, it looks like all systems are a go for the potential super fihgt between St-Pierre and middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Interestingly enough, St-Pierre wouldn’t commit to the fight after his victory and Silva never set foot into the Octagon despite being present at the fight.
Silva spoke earlier in the day about the possibility of fighting St-Pierre in what would be the biggest fight in UFC history.
“I have my plans. First, the people are talking Anderson and St-Pierre,” the middleweight champion said at a press conference before the start of UFC 154 before touching on another fight that the public wants to see.”Now the people are talking Anderson and Jon Jones.”
Usually, Silva would squash any possibility of a Jon Jones fight but he seems to have softened his stance on the other big fight.
“”My first goal is the Georges St-Pierre fight, the superfight. And the second goal, maybe Jon Jones. I don’t know,” Silva said before leaving the decision in the hands of the UFC President. “This is not my decision. This is Dana White‘s decision.””
It’s quite the interesting change of tune from Silva. But who knows if he really means what he says. Just a few days ago, Silva spoke of a long hiatus. Now he is open to either fight? Our money is on the Silva-GSP fight happening in early 2013. Anything after that is extraordinarily cloudy.
