Anderson Silva Targets Three Fights, Title Shot In 2016
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson is preparing to get back inside the Octagon when he fights Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 84. Siva has been out of action for one year after he failed his post-fight UFC 183 urine test for the steroid Drostanolone.
Silva recently spoke with Combate.com about his upcoming fight with Bisping and talked about his suspension and fighting three times in 2016.
It was good because I had time to think about many things in my life, resume a new direction for the personal and professional life and was also good because I got more time with the family, have time to take care of personal things, was really in the hands of people. It’ll be nice, I am very excited to go back, I hope not stop more. God bless me so that nothing stops me and I can continue. Hopefully, after this fight, in two or three months to fight again. I have a few fights in my contract yet, and I hope suddenly make 3 more fights this year and all of them with victory.
Silva, who lost his middleweight title to Chris Weidman at UFC 162, is looking for the chance of reclaiming the title.
Of course. Once being among the athletes of 84kg, and had the opportunity, I will do that yes.I’m waiting for the opportunity. It is a phase that has passed in my life, I’ve had the opportunity to stay nine years as champion and won several title defenses, but it is something that is there. I sparred automatically if you win well, I will have the opportunity to fight for the title. I can not be pretentious enough to think I can fight as well as before because I have 40 years, and it will not happen, but I’m doing a smarter training, focused on my technique and agility, which is what always had the best, who was always risking blows that people never imagined. That’s what I’m training a lot. If he wins the upcoming fights and convince people that can fight for the title again, perhaps it happen.
UFC Fight Night 84 takes place Feb 27 at The O2 in London and will air exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
