Alistair Overeem Puts Away Junior Dos Santos In Second Round

Alistair Overeem

Two heavyweight bulls competed at UFC on FOX 17 in Orlando. The two sluggers who met inside the Octagon were Junior dos Santos (17-4) and Alistair Overeem (40-14, 1 NC).

In perhaps the most significant fight of his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) run, Overeem delivered.

Overeem kept faking a kick and the crowd got restless not even a minute into the fight. “Cigano” had his head kick blocked. Overeem landed an inside leg kick and connected with an overhand right. The round came to a close with Overeem holding onto his opponent’s back.

“Cigano” kicked “The Reem” low and time was called. The action resumed Overeem switched to southpaw. Overeem threw a heavy body kick. “The Reem” wobbled dos Santos with a combination. The story of round two was Overeem’s ability to keep his distance and land hard kicks to the body and leg of the former heavyweight champion. Overeem dropped his opponent with a huge left hook and some follow up punches ended the fight.
