Alistair Overeem out to prove he’s the best

Fresh off his historic K-1 Championship achievements, StrikeForce heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem has spoken out, about the upcoming StrikeForce Heavyweight Grand Prix. Overeem will be the defending Champion going in to the tournament and he will put his strap on the line against some of the best heavyweighs  the MMA world has to offer. Alistair see’s this as his chance to prove to everyone, that he is the number one fighter in the world today.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com; The Reem had this to say:

”I have been looking for a big fight for more than a year now. Tournament or no tournament, Werdum was going to be my first fight in StrikeForce. All the fighters in the tournament are good, so there are no easy fights. I’m a little surprised about it, and I don’t know why this bracket is designed this way, but my job is to fight. I’m not picking opponents, so if that’s the way they made the bracket, so be it.”

”When my schedule allows it, I will always try to find more fights. I’m an active fighter, so I will never say no to a fight if my management can make the fight. I’m focusing on one fight at a time, and my management will talk to the promoter and see when we are ready to fight in Japan.”

”I can show the American fans that I’m the number one fighter of StrikeForce. Entering such a tournament is not only great for the MMA fans but also a great way to prove that I’m the best fighter in the World.”

Alistair’s last MMA outing was at Dynamite!! 2010 end of year card, where he made short work of former UFC Heavyweight prospect Todd Duffee, Knocking Duffee out in just 19 seconds of the very first round. Overeem will look to continue his path of destruction heading into StrikeForce’s prestigious 8 man gauntlet, that will surely prove who is the best heavyweight within the StrikeForce ranks. Overeem is slated to take on Fabricio Werdum in a quarter final match-up, with the winner advancing to take on either Fedor Emelianenko or Antonio Silva in the semi finals.
