Jose Aldo Plans To Run Through McGregor Like A Runaway Truck

On Tuesday, during the last stop on the UFC 189 World Tour press conference in Conor McGregor‘s hometown of Dublin, the Irish fighter’s trash talk and antics reached a new level when he swiped Jose Aldo’s belt in an effort to further irritate the champion.

And failed, according to Aldo.

“I didn’t feel anything,” the champ reported to UFC Brasil after order had been restored and the press conference ended. “That’s the best he can do because next time he’s in front of me, I will be the shit out of his face.”

“Now it’s time to go home, train and train,” Aldo concluded. “Brother, I will run through him like a runaway truck. I will smash him.”

For his part, McGregor seemed to insinuate that Aldo was too afraid of him to respond to his taunts over the course of their promotional tour, over the course of which the Irishman stole the championship belt and grabbed Aldo by the back of the neck.

“He said he’s going to do something,” McGregor said. “He’s done nothing.”

While Aldo and McGregor never physically came to blows, the tension between them seemed to grow at each stop, culminating in the belt-swiping at their final press conference. In return, the normally reserved Aldo seemed to enjoy riling up the Irish fans; at one point taking a page out of McGregor’s playbook and declaring himself the “King Of Dublin.”

Aldo and McGregor will face off against one another on July 11, at UFC 189 in Las Vegas in what is tracking to be the biggest UFC fight of the year. It’s a tilt the typically confident McGregor has indicated will be a short one. Speaking with the media at UFC 183, “Notorious” has predicted a first round knockout of the long-time featherweight champion.
