Albert Tumenov Survives Lorenz Larkin’s Leg Kicks For Narrow Decision

Welterweights Albert Tumenov (17-2) and Lorenz Larkin (16-5, 1 NC) did battle at UFC 195 in Las Vegas. The two 170-pounders put on quite a show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Tumenov showed off his striking with his boxing technique. He landed a high kick as Larkin had his back towards the fence. The story of the fight would be Tumenov’s advantage with the hands, while Larkin’s kicks gave him an edge.

The second frame saw Larkin connect with multiple leg kicks. His opponent answered with two body shots and a left hook. Tumenov switched stances in response to a hard leg kick from his opponent. “Eienstein” kept finding a home for the left hook to the body. “The Monsoon” landed a right hand. When the round ended, Tumenov limped to his corner.

Tumenov landed a leg kick to begin the final round. An inside leg kick connected for Larkin. “Einstein” had his head kick blocked. A few spinning heel kicks to the leg found a home for Larkin. Tumenov connected with a left hand to the body. “The Monsoon” landed a counter left hand. The two separated from a clinch and the final horn sounded.

Two of the three judges saw Tumenov as the winner.

Final Result: Albert Tumenov def. Lorenz Larkin via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
