After his controversial UFC Fight Night 63 split decision win over Jorge Masvidal, Al Iaquinta made some big headlines by getting into it with the Fairfax, Virginia, crowd.

Now, he’s parlayed that into a big fight, as it was announced by Ariel Helwani on tonight’s UFC 186 post-fight show that “Raging” will face off with No. 11-ranked Bobby Green at July 25’s stacked UFC on FOX 16 card from Chicago.

Iaquinta will bring the momentum of four straight wins in the Octagon to the United Center, he finished Joe Lauzon, Ross Pearson and Rodrigo Damm in three straight bouts before the win over Masvidal. He had been rumored for a bout with fellow rising prospect Beneil Dariush, but obviously an opportunity against a fighter like Green took precedence.

He’ll seek to score his biggest-ever UFC victory against the enigmatic Green, who has teased retirement and was most recently seen spouting off that new lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos had used steroids to beat Anthony Pettis at UFC 185.

“King” last fought Edson Barboza, dropping a decision at UFC Fight Night 57 that saw him taunt and talk more trash than throw actual strikes. The loss dropped an impressive eight-fight win streak for Green.

UFC on FOX, which is headlined by the long-anticipated T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao bantamweight title rematch, is quickly becoming a showcase for the lightweight division with five total 155-pound bouts as of right now with the addition of Iaquinta vs. Green.
