Agony Cam: Conor McGregor’s Family Watch With Horror As He Taps
Watch the video here…
UFC 196 was one of the most monumental events in the promotion’s history, and didn’t even transpire with the originally scheduled main event. The lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos left a hole that only Nate Diaz could fill opposite Conor McGregor. The UFC featherweight champion was looking to make waves in a new division at 155 pounds, but ended up agreeing to a welterweight affair with the Gracie jiu jitsu black belt.
The glorious 11-day rivalry that ‘The Notorious’ and Diaz shared provided more crazy moments than most full length beefs in the UFC, and the fight did not disappoint one bit. A back-and-forth first round left McGregor clearly reeling, feeling the pace as he breathed very heavily in the corner. Coach John Kavanagh said ‘you’re fully recovered,’ but the truth was far from that statement.
McGregor got taken in to deep territory by Diaz, a place we’d never seen the Irish boxer before, and the Stockton slugger began to rock the featherweight champ to the jaw. In a very uncharacteristic display, McGregor shot in for the takedown, effectively sealing his own fate against the far superior grappler. It was just moments before McGregor would eat some shots from a mounting Diaz, and eventually give up his back to tap from a rear naked choke.
All the hype and BS aside, this was really a great fight, and both men gave it their all. Unfortunately for McGregor it just wasn’t good enough against Diaz. We’ve seen a ton of reactions and opinions about the fight, but the latest video released by the UFC shows some truly heart wrenching footage.

As the fight ending submission was applied, McGregor’s family was clearly in tatters. In true UFC form, the promotion captured the horror as well as the highs and lows, including the deeply emotional moments, to later share this with the world.
