No. 4-ranked middleweight Luke Rockhold came into tonight’s (Sat., April 18, 2015) UFC on FOX 15 main event from Newark, New Jersey, looking to make a statement. He did that in emphatic fashion, submitting “The Dragon” after an absolutely dominant round-and-a-half where the former Strikeforce champion was never in any semblance of true danger.

For his jaw-dropping victory, UFC President Dana White announced that Rockhold not surprisingly earned the first of the event’s two ,000 “Performance of the Night” bonuses. More importantly, he put himself in prime position for the next shot at the winner of May 23’s UFC 187 co-main event between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort.

The second “Performance of the Night” bonus went to surging featherweight Max Holloway, who made top-ranked contender Cub Swanson look a bit foolish with his varied arsenal of strikes, dropping the Californian in the third to lock on a vicious guillotine choke for the tap.

“Fight of the Night” went to the back-and-forth light heavyweight slugfest between Gian Villante and Corey Anderson, a fight that Villante won by battering The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 19 winner with an endless barrage of low kicks before finishing him with a huge overhand right and a swarm of follow-up punches.

UFC on FOX 15 had an announced attendance of 13,306 fans for a $1.2 million live gate.
