Fans Pick Frankie Edgar For Title Shot Over Conor McGregor

ufc fight night 66

Well, it turns out actions do speak louder than words…..

UFC featherweight Frankie Edgar put himself right back in the title mix at UFC Fight Night 57. Although having already lost to champion Jose Aldo, “The Answer” proved his worth by battering Cub Swanson and earning a fifth round submission win. Of course with Conor McGregor in the mix, there was never any certainty that Edgar would be granted a shot.

No matter how convincing the win in Austin, Texas, you got the feeling that Edgar would get snubbed by “The Notorious”. The brash Irish bad boy has the gift of the gab, and is apparently worth his weight in gold during this injury filled year for the UFC. That being said, a recent UFC poll shows that the tide may be turning. Check out what Edgar posted to his Twitter:

So even with McGregor capturing the attention of the MMA media, fans and Dana White, he has come second place to the rankings in this recent poll. All that’s left now is for “The Notorious” to fight Dennis Siver in January, in a bout that many are calling ‘gift wrapped’ for the SBG product.

Will Frankie Edgar get the next title shot, or will the UFC continue to simply do whatever they want, rankings be damned?
