TUF Brazil 4 Will Be Filmed In Las Vegas
After a rough season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Brazil 3, the UFC has apparently decided to change the locale of the supposedly Brazilian show.
At today’s (Mon., October 27, 2014) TUF Brazil 4 tryouts in Rio de Janeiro, it was announced that the filming of the show will now take place in Las Vegas, similar to the recent season TUF Latin America, which was coached by heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and No. 1 contender Fabricio Werdum, who will now fight Mark Hunt for the interim belt at UFC 1800 after Velasquez injured his knee.
UFC President Dana White broke the news that the TUF Brazil 4 coaches had already been chosen at the UFC 179 post-fight press conference last Saturday, but he could not name the two fighters yet.
TUF Brazil 4, which will feature bantamweight and lightweight contestants on the show, reportedly had 600 fighters trying out.
TUF Brazil 3 was a massive media spectacle marred by the on-camera brawl by coaches Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva, who were then mired in their own respective scandals for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). The two coaches fought on the show, but didn’t actually fight in the octagon, and both have since retired.
The TUF Brazil 3 Finale was also hurt by injuries as original headliner Junior dos Santos was forced out of his replacement headliner against Stipe Miocic, who destroyed late replacement Fabio Maldonado in a mere 35 seconds.
“Cigano” and Miocic will now go to war in the main event of December 13’s UFC on FOX 13.
As for TUF Brazil 4, it appears that the former seasons of TUF will now be headed to Las Vegas. Does that take away from their authenticity, or did the show need a better location for filming?
