The UFC continues it’s trend of double headers this weekend, as The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale goes down tonight (December 12th), ahead of the UFC on FOX 13 card in Phoenix, Arizona, this Saturday. All the prelim bouts are featuring competitors from the TUF 20 cast, and the feature bout is one to watch.

Girl you wish you could marry/who could kill you standing, Felice Herrig, squared off with submission ace Lisa Ellis to round off the prelims card. “”Lil Bulldog” rushed in early and gets caught in a guillotine choke, but was savvy in escape. Herrig turns the tables, locking up a tight triangle-armbar from mount, but Ellis escaped too. This fight turned in to an awesome grappling match.

Great job by the production team for missing out the first ten seconds of round two. The coverage resumes with Ellis in Herrig’s guard, but she gets reversed. “Lil Bulldog” gets mount, then the back and tried to sink in the RNC but Ellis displayed great submission defense. Another mounted triangle by Herrig led to an armbar finish. Great submission win by Herrig.

Bec Rawlings faced Heather Jo Clark in a TUF 20 grudge match, with an emotionally fuelled opening round. Rawlings was dropped early on and slammed hard, arguably 1-0 after five minutes. Clark showed some surprising boxing skills in round two, outclassing the consensus better striker. An accidental head butt leads to a huge lump on the head of “Rowdy”.

Rawlings gets flattened out late in the second, but Clark was just unable to get the finishing choke. 2-0 Clark as we headed in to the third, but she is looking tired. Rawlings opens up with strikes but is it too late? Tough one to score with a close opener, 29-28 across the board for Clark.

Joanne Calderwood goes up against Seo Hee Ham now, in what looked more like a kickboxing match to begin with. A close opening round was followed by a good second stanza for Calderwood, as she used her range and timing well. Jo Jo’s” nose might be busted here, but she clearly wins the last round with clinch work and g’n’p. UD for Calderwood.

Tecia Torres battles Angela Magana to open the FOX Sports prelims, in a fight that sees “Tiny Tornado” Torres as the heaviest favorite on the card. TT drops Magana in the first with an explosive punch, and rocks her to the body in the second stanza with side kicks. Wow, Torres has some real power on display, as she dominates round three for the UD

Aisling Daley vs Alex Chambers was the next women’s 115-pound bout, and this was another one-sided fight. Conor McGregor‘s team mate Daley made it ugly, finishing with an armbar from mount after some ground and pound.

Emily Kagan vs Angela Hill kicks off the UFC Fight Pass card, and it was a good start. Kagan was eager for the takedown, but Hill was all about the striking. “Overkill” puts on a total striking clinic and wins a lopsided unanimous decision.

The TUF 20 finale prelims could well feature a future star in the weight class, as the inaugural title goes on the line in the evening’s strawweight main event.
