Throwdown! Jacare Souza vs. Yoel Romero Added To UFC 184
It looks like February 28’s UFC 184 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, is just going to keep getting bigger.
Already featuring the awaited title fight between middleweight champion Chris Weidman, Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano for the women’s bantamweight strap, and most recently, the return of heavyweight Frank Mir against “Bigfoot” Silva, the stacked pay-per-view (PPV) card has added another high-level middleweight clash to the docket.
The UFC confirmed via their Brazilian Twitter account that No. 2-ranked Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will take on No. 6 Yoel Romero in a battle of surging behemoths:

Souza has recently racked up seven straight victories, his latest an impressive submission of tough former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi in the main event of September 5’s UFC Fight Night 50.
He’ll have his hands full with Romero, the former Olympic silver medalist wrestler who was last seen defeating Tim Kennedy in a controversy-laden bout at September 27’s UFC 178.
Both Souza and Romero are dangerously close to a title shot, and the winner may get the next shot at Weidman or Belfort, depending on the fashion in which they win. Of course, the next title shot could also go to Luke Rockhold, who demolished Michael Bisping at last Friday’s (Nov. 7, 2014) UFC Fight Night 55 from Sydney and is currently on standby in case Belfort fails a pre-fight drug test.
So UFC 184 is already shaping to be one of the best cards of 2014; that is, if all the fighters can actually make it to their fights.
