Ronda Rousey Thinks Tate ‘Could Be Decent’ If She Broke Up With Caraway
Ranked at No. 4 in the official UFC pound-for-pound rankings this week and present in a veritable cornucopia of multimedia outlets such as Sport’s Illustrated’s “Most Dominant Athlete,” and upcoming summer blockbuster “Entourage,” dominant women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey continued her takeover of MMA by releasing an all-new book entitled “My Fight/Your Fight.”
The transcendent crossover star appeared on the Howard Stern Show this week to promote her book, and a topic that ‘Rowdy’ hasn’t discussed all that much lately returned to the surface. That subject was Rousey’s old archrival Miesha Tate, whom she originally beat for the Strikeforce belt in 2012 before submitting with a third round armbar at UFC 168 following a heated and grudge-fueled season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18.
According to Rousey, ‘Cupcake’ has made an entire career of being beaten up by Rousey, something that the champion doesn’t think she necessarily deserves:
“Me beating the crap out of her is the best thing that has ever happened to her. Why? Because she’s made a whole career and a living out of it. I didn’t even want to devote that much time to her in the book. I could just write a book about why Miesha Tate is a big ol’ bitch.””
Rousey believes that Tate is simply too fake for her liking, something she’s echoed since their early days on TUF. She said that Tate mimics the personality of the person she’s around at the time, and with her being around boyfriend and UFC bantamweight Bryan Caraway the most, that’s certainly far from a good thing:
“I think deep down I don’t think she’s a terrible person,” Rousey said. “I think she’s just one of those malleable people that they are who they’re hanging with. I think she just has a martini personality, which is whoever you’re sitting down and having a drink with, that’s who you reflect and that’s exactly who you are. Her boyfriend is like the biggest douchebag ever and she’s around him every single second of the day.”
But Rousey’s hate for Tate doesn’t run that deep, as it appears to be mostly centered on Caraway. Rousey believes she could beat Caraway up in a fight, and she also said that Tate could actually be a good person if she could only free herself of his influence:
“I’ve heard that when she’s not around him, then she’s very pleasant,” Rousey said. “But when she’s with him she’s fucking terrible. This guy is like just such a leech. It just drives me nuts. And I feel like she could have hope to be decent if she just got away from him.”
So the gloves are off and this old rivalry could be rekindled with Tate possibly receiving the next title shot if she gets past Jessica Eye at UFC on FOX 16 this summer. Tate is the only fighter who has taken ‘Rowdy’ into the third round, yet she was still finished both times they met.
Is this a fight you’re excited to potentially watch again?
