Poll: Where Does Anderson Silva Go From Here?

The dust just settled on Anderson Silva’s triumphant return over Nick Diaz in the main event of tonight’s (Sat., January 31, 2015) UFC 183 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and immediately the eyes of the MMA world will shift to just what “The Spider’s” next move will be.

Out-landing Diaz and bloodying the trash talking bad boy, Silva scored a unanimous decision win over a Diaz that landed some solid leg kicks and intermittent punches but little else. Despite his power and accuracy, “The Spider” looked a bit tentative tonight, getting his return win out of the way rather than going all-out for his usual knockout finish.

UFC President Dana White has repeatedly said that Silva may get a title shot with a win over Diaz, but went back on his statement, saying that he’ll re-evaluate his position later on. Silva, on the other hand, seemed as if he was leaning towards retirement in his post-fight interview and said he would talk about his fighting future with his family.

But he reportedly told some members of the media that he would probably return as he walked out of the cage, showing a classic twist on words that “The Spider” is known for. Overall it’s safe to say that Silva probably shouldn’t rush right into an instant title shot, but it isn’t necessarily time for him to call it quits.
