Matt Brown Still Wants Carlos Condit Over Tyron Woodley
UFC welterweights Matt Brown and Carlos Condit were once booked in to fight each other, in a dream match up for fans. That was back in December at UFC on FOX 9, but “The Immortal” suffered a back injury and the fight was scrapped. “NBK” went on to fight Tyron Woodley at UFC 171, losing by injury TKO.
“The Chosen One” has his hype train stopped by Rory MacDonald at UFC 174, but got it right back on track with a knockout win against Dong Hyun Kim at Fight Night 48. Woodley then went public with a call-out of Brown. An intrigung match indeed, but “The Immortal” still has his sights set on Condit, as he spoke to FOX Sports, transcribed by MMAFighting.com:
“You never know how a fight’s going to go, but I would anticipate not a f**kin’ barnburner war,” Brown said of a matchup with Woodley. “That’s probably not what the fans would anticipate. Whether it is or not, god only knows. Condit is probably a f**kin’ barnburner. I can’t imagine it going any other way.”
It is true that fans were clamoring to see Condit and Brown face off last year, and I personally still want to see them square off. Would it be more interesting than a potential Woodley/Brown pairing? I’d have to say yes. Brown continued:
“Strategy is whatever,” said Brown. “I don’t give a f**k. I don’t see the fans anticipating a war [with Woodley]. I don’t anticipate anything in a fight. A lot of them are probably going to expect [Woodley] to knock me out real quick or he’s going to take me down, grind me out real quick, or that I’m going to slowly beat him up and that it’d be a good war. Those are three basic options for Woodley where I think Condit you have, most likely, no matter how this fight goes, we’re f**king each other up. We’re going to be bloody and beat up at the end.”
As “The Natural Born Killer” draws closer to his inevitable return, do you think he should fulfill his 2013 obligations against “The Immortal”? Also a point, Brown is coming off a loss, and Woodley a win. Condit also is coming off defeat, and stylistically Brown vs Condit seems a no-brainer.
