It was a great looking card on paper, and UFC Fight Night 61 really delivered last night (Sunday February 22nd, 2015). Headlined by the return of Frank Mir, as he bashed the hometown hero Antonio Silva with a brutal first round knockout. Elsewhere on the card, the pre-cursor to the feature preliminary bout was Dwyer vs Patolino.

The home advantage was in favor of William Macario, as the Canadian looked to upset the odds and the crown in Porto Alegre, Brazil. As it turned out, Dwyer had the goods and boy he brought them along to the Ginasio Giganinho last night. Macario got some good shots in early on, and his Canadian foe was looking to work from the outside.

Out of nowhere comes a bruatl superman punch from Dwyer, and Patolino does the chicken leg dance before plummeting to the canvas face first. The Canadian earned himself a tasty $50,000 performance of the night bonus, and added his name to the long list of foreigners who won on Brazilian soil last night.

Among those names was Mike De La Torre, who absolutely brutalized Tiago Trator with a savage first round knockout. A series of left hooks had the Brazilian hurt early on, and MDLT did not let up. Another left hook dropped Tratot, and 11 right hands on the mat finished the job. Terrible stoppage by the referee, but a great finish nonetheless.

Fan favorite Sam Alvey also made a great impression last night, albeit against yet another Brazilian foe. He straight-up savaged Cezar Fereirra in the first round of their middleweight tangle, earning his second KO win on the bounce, watch those highlights below.
