Fabricio Werdum Wants Andrei Arlovski Next

It looks as though we have a couple of title fights being lined up in the heavyweight and flyweight divisions of the UFC. Ever since defeating Cain Velasquez in an upset performance at UFC 188, the talk of Fabricio Werdum‘s next opponent has been rampant. ‘Vai Cavalo’ offered Velasquez an immediate rematch in the aftermath of his submission win over the Mexican ex-champ, and a rematch with Junior Dos Santos, who knocked Werdum out at UFC 190, has also been kicked around.

It looks like the newly crowned champion may have changed his mind, opting for a rematch with resurgent heavyweight contender Andrei Arlovski. ‘The Pitbull’ has done a career 180, starching Antonio Silva and Travis Browne in recent outings, and looking like a new fighter in doing so. The news comes by way of UFC Tonight on Twitter:

The Byelorussian striker holds a unanimous decision victory over Werdum from way back at UFC 70, and is himself undefeated in five fights. Nothing official yet, unlike the news from the UFC flyweight division. Demetrious Johnson vs John Dodson 2 has been made official for the next 125-pound title bout, although no event or date has been released just yet.

‘Mighty Mouse’ defeated Dodson in his first defense of the inaugural UFC flyweight crown back in 2013, and has gone on to wreck the competition in the unheralded division since. Currently unbeaten since 2011 Johnson has taken out the flyweight division’s top contenders in quick order, making a rematch with Dodson the only viable option.
