UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor doesn’t waste much time making friends with his attention from the media. Undoubtedly the biggest attraction in MMA, arguably combat sports today, McGregor spends a fair amount of time filling the headline spots on major news outlets. He’s one of a select few UFC stars to bridge the gap between the still somewhat growing sport of mixed martial arts and the mainstream media.

With this extra time in the limelight McGregor has made some rather outlandish statements lately. One such quote by ‘The Notorious’ included a verbal attack on the world of pro wrestling. The Irishman blasted the stars of the WWE as ‘pussies’ during a recent rant, and it’s sparked outrage among fans of World Wrestling Entertainment, of which there are many.

Ahead of his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor has once again been on full speed ahead. Taking to Twitter in the early hours of this morning, ‘The Notorious’ attempted to take back some of his scathing comments. Well, at least in the first sentence.

It wouldn’t be sincere of McGregor to mince his words, it’s just not how he does these things. That said, how far is the boundary, if there even is one at all? ‘The Notorious’ is widely credited as bringing the UFC and the sport of MMA to never before seen levels of popularity. He’s flirted with the boxing world with the wild rumours involving Floyd Mayweather, but his attacks on the WWE seem a little less motivated by money.

UFC 202

Diaz vs. McGregor 2 goes down on August 20 at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pay-per-view card s highly anticipated and forecast by many to sell at a much higher rate than UFC 200. The biggest name in the sport, Conor McGregor is heading in to the most important fight of his life, but Diaz holds all the chips after submitting him on March 5.
