Chad Mendes Wants To Punch Hole In Conor McGregor’s Face

UFC featherweight contender Chad Mendes remains focused on Jose Aldo, but wants a piece of Conor McGregor ASAP….

Chad Mendes will attempt to become the first man to defeat Jose Aldo since the champion’s days as a rookie in Jungle Fight. Aldo is 24-1 and riding a nine-year, 17-fight win streak at present, including a UFC 142 knockout win over “Money”. The beef between these two ahead of their UFC 179 rematch has shown the champ in quite a different light.

Mendes seems to believe he is in Aldo’s head, and that he will claim Team Alpha Male’s second Nova Uniao belt in 2014. Aside from his title dreams, “Money” said to AXS TV that he is itching to fight Conor McGregor. Check out the video:

“The guy has been talking so much crap. The guy has got a huge hype train behind him. It’s going to feel good to get in there and just dismantle this dude. I’m not looking past Jose Aldo at all. I mean, obviously I’ve fought him before. I know what he feels like, his strength, his speed, his power, and I truly believe I have what it takes, and I’ve done everything done possible to do it. But God, it’s going to feel so good to punch a hole throughConor McGregor‘s face.”

“”The Notorious” recently punched his ticket to the top five at featherweight by absolutely bossing Dustin Poirier at UFC 178. “Diamond” was being touted as McGregor’s biggest test to date, if true then the Irish bad boy had certainly done his revision. Mendes has often been the subject of jives by the SBG prospect, but he takes it all in his stride.

“He talks about how he’s got this huge reach on me; I’m ‘mini Mendes,’” Mendes said. “But man, I’ve been small my whole life. Every person I’ve fought in my career has had a reach advantage on me, so it’s nothing new.”

“I consider myself the Mike Tyson of the division with a mean blast double-leg. It’s going to feel good to get in there and, you know, get on the inside of those long arms and his movements he’s always talking about and take his head off – and if I don’t do that, I’m going to put him on his back and make it one hell of a night for him”

“I’ve got the task at hand. But whether it’s the next fight or whenever it is, I’m really looking forward to getting in there and beating the crap out of Conor McGregor.”-Props to MMAjunkie for the quotes

Chad Mendes has certainly turned up the heat for his trash talking against Jose Aldo, but he may have met his match in Conor McGregor. Whether that be inside the octagon as well as outside is yet to be seen, but a win for “Money” at UFC 179 would see the division re-shaped. Any bets on who Mendes would call out in Brazil if he beats Aldo? I’d hazard a guess that it wouldn’t be anyone from Brazil…..
