Nick Diaz, Hector Lombard & Anderson Silva NSAC Hearing Results
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Hector Lombard and Nick Diaz’s failed drug tests will be addressed by the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) today. If you’ll remember, Silva and Diaz had their failed drug test results made public after their headlining clash at UFC 183.
“Showeather” got popped in a random drug test, causing his UFC 186 bout with Rory MacDonald to get scrapped. The hearing today will likely just reveal that all will be hit with a nine-month mandatory suspension, but there is usually something newsworthy to accompany these stories.
Lombard got tagged for having a designer steroid in his system, “The Spider” for two types of anabolic roid, and the king of 209 got busted for Marijuana metabolites.
Stay tuned for live updates from the Diaz/Lombard & Anderson Silva NSAC hearing.
Update
1800 ET, after numerous useless to MMA fans items on the agenda, we start to hit the meat on the bone. The commissioners discuss an overhaul of the current drug testing policies. They talk about using harsher punishments, and getting (OOC) testing made more structured. They also said they’ll meet again on the matter next month (March). Haven’t they had enough time since this whole fiasco started??
Francisco Rivera was unsuccessful in his attempt to get the UFC 181 submission loss against Urijah Faber overturned. “The California Kid” raked Rivera’s eyeballs before finishing him, so tough luck there kiddo.
1849, Nick Diaz‘s representative claims that “new info” is available regarding his client’s failed Marijuana test, the commission isn’t interested. Nick Diaz is suspended temporarily until a further meeting in March.
Anderson Silva and Hector Lombard also receive temporary suspensions until the same hearing in March, yet to be exactly determined.
1855 Ashlee Evans-Smith is suspended temporarily, as well as her nine-month sit and 30 percent docked salary.
