Video: Ronda Rousey Still Unforgiving Of ‘Disingenuous’ Bethe Correia

It’s safe to say that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (11-0) and number one contender Bethe Correia (9-0) aren’t friends. It’s actually the total opposite as both competitors have quickly become bitter rivals.

In late May 2015, Correia threw a verbal jab at the champion that many have deemed inexcusable. While her remarks about wanting to finish Rousey weren’t anything out of the ordinary, it was her suicide comment that got people ticked off:

“She is winning, so everybody is around her cheering her up, but when she realizes she is not everything that she believes she is, I don’t know what might happen. I hope she does not kill herself later on (laughs).”

Rousey lost her father due to suicide. While “Pitbull” apologized for her remarks, “Rowdy” wasn’t buying it:

“It wasn’t even an apology. She just complimented herself and called herself humble and asked for forgiveness. This fight has become extremely personal to me and I’ve never wanted to beat someone so badly in my life.”

Fast forward to July 21 and things are still heated between the champion and the challenger. Rousey recently sat down with the mixed martial arts (MMA) media (via MMAJunkie.com) to discuss her hostility towards Correia:

“When it got to the point where she was laughing at the subject of suicide, it was entirely unnecessary. To bring my family into it, they don’t deserve that. They didn’t ask for that. I need to make sure that nobody else tries to do that ever again.”

As far as “Pitbull’s” apology is concerned, “Rowdy” still doesn’t believe the Brazilian is sincere:

“Her entirely disingenuous apology afterwards, which wasn’t even an apology, she just complimented herself by calling herself humble and asking for forgiveness. I think that her actually pretending that she didn’t know to save face was just as insulting as what she said in the first place. There were so many other events in my life that she cited that were actually from my book right after it came out that are much less known than the history of my father and my family.”

Rousey will defend her women’s 135-pound championship against Correia at UFC 190 from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
