Rousey’s Mom: Ronda Hangs Out With Some Douchebags
It’s no secret that dominant UFC women’s bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey is very close with her mother, who was also a judo champion.
The champion’s mother, Ann Maria DeMars, can usually be seen at her daughter’s fights, and it turns out that she is just as outspoken as the bantamweight champion.
Recently writing on her blog, DeMars praised Rousey, but also said that some of the people her daughter hangs out with are douche bags:
“I’m her mom so of course I think Ronda Jean is a whole cupcake of amazing, frosted with awesome sauce and sprinkles of sweetness on top. However, I think some of the people she hangs out with are douche bags.”
Moving on, DeMars said that Rousey’s fame has caused people around her to be afraid so to say, and to not be honest with the champion. DeMars also claims that everyone makes mistakes, but that the people around Rousey are afraid to call her out on any mistakes the champion may make:
“Here is what I see. The more famous, wealthy or successful you get, the more people are afraid of you. Most people are not fabulously famous, etc. so you end up with a lot of people around you whose major quality to offer to the world is that they are associated with YOU. No matter how wonderful anyone is, they will do stupid shit from time to time. The difference if you are rich and famous is that people don’t call you on your shit.”
In closing, it seems as if DeMars almost foresees her daughter getting into trouble, saying that the bubble around her will continue to grow with fearful people, who are scared to confront her until it’s too late:
“After all, who wouldn’t like to believe that every decision they made was right? That bubble of what you see as acceptable – because everyone around you accepts it – just gets bigger and bigger until one day it pops when you rape someone in a hotel room or shoot someone because they annoyed you or overdose on drugs.”
Is Rousey’s star power leading her straight to trouble, or is DeMars just a concerned parent?
