Paige VanZant Mauls & Armbars Alex Chambers In Third Round

Paige VanZant

Twenty-one year old Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight Paige VanZant (6-1) looked to stay unbeaten inside the Octagon when she met Australia’s Alex Chambers (5-3) at UFC 191 in Las Vegas. She found what she was looking for and looked better than ever in doing so.

VanZant pressured Chambers immediately, but “Astro Girl” fought her way out of the clinch. “12 Gauge” got control of Chambers against the fence and landed some knees to the body. They broke away and VanZant connected with a thudding leg kick. VanZant got Chambers to the ground briefly with a hip toss, but settled for control in the clinch once again. Chambers dropped down for a leg lock, but VanZant slipped out with ease and maintained control until the round ended.

Round two began and VanZant once again got control in the clinch and landed knees to the solar plexus. “Astro Girl” was able to break free momentarily, but not before being on the receiving end of another knee. “12 Gauge” put together some nice elbows and knees with Chambers’ back against the cage. Chambers was dropped with a body kick and VanZant continued to put pressure on her opponent, leading to a takedown and some ground and pound until the horn sounded.

VanZant came out swinging at the start of the final round. “12 Gauge” tagged her opponent with an overhand right and took her down. VanZant went for a choke, but settled for full mount and finished the fight with an armbar.
