Jose Aldo Doesn’t Care About IV Ban: I Will Do It Anyway

Reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo seems as if he hasn’t been too happy with his employers recently, and he has all of a sudden become very outspoken. After pulling out of his scheduled mega fight with now interim champion Conor McGregor at UFC 189 (July 11, 2015), “Scarface” wasn’t pleased with UFC president Dana White arguing the nature of Aldo’s rib injury.

More recently, the champion voiced his continuous displeasure towards the new UFC-Reebok uniforms, but it seems as if there is another issue he’s not too fond of, that being the upcoming United States Anti-Doping Agency’s (USADA) ban on IV rehydration after weigh-ins.

Many fighters use this tactic to rehydrate, and if they are not allowed to, we may see many fighters have to switch weight classes. Aldo, however, bashed the decision, saying that he doesn’t care if it’s banned, he’s going to do it anyway.

“Scarface” said that they can’t test him for it, or pull him from a fight for it because it’s not doping, and he will go somewhere else to do it. He also took a shot at the people in charge, saying that they are “F*cking stupid” (Via Bloody Elbow):

“Only if they put security guard with me 24 hours a day. I don’t care. That’s what’s going to happen. I will do it anyway or someone else will do it for me. I will go to a friends house, to a different hotel room. I don’t fucking care about them. They won’t take me out of the fight anyway. They can’t take me from the fight. It’s not doping. They will say they will test me. How are they going to get IV rehydration from my urine, brother? Only if they got new techniques. They are ninjas. They are fucking stupid.”

Aldo is definitely a larger featherweight, so it’s understandable why he would be a slight bit upset. Will the recent backlash towards the new rule cause a change?
