Glover Teixeira Puts Ovince Saint Preux To Sleep With Choke In Third Round

The main event of UFC Fight Night 73 featured a light heavyweight clash between two top 10 205-pound heavy hitters. Ovince Saint Preux (18-7) battled Glover Teixeira (23-4) in Nashville, Tennessee on Aug. 8, 2015.

The fight began and Teixeira took “OSP” down. Saint Preux powered back up and accidentally landed a knee to the groin of Teixeira. “Big” John McCarthy warned “OSP” and the fight resumed. Saint Preux knocked his opponent down with a body kick.

Saint Preux landed some punches standing, but had his kick caught allowing Teixeira to take him down. The Brazilian moved to mount and started throwing punches. “OSP” gave up his back, but he was able to get back to his feet.

Teixeira was able to take Saint Preux down once again. “OSP” spun and wound up in top control. They stood back up and “OSP” went for a takedown. Round one ended with Teixeira missing a punch.

Round two began and “OSP” had his head kick blocked. He scrambled back up quickly from a takedown. Teixeira landed a shot to the body. Teixeira put Saint Preux down on the mat with a double leg takedown. The Brazilian landed some punches and elbows with “OSP” on his back. Round two ended with OSP getting in a late flurry.

Saint Preux and Teixeira stuffed each other’s takedowns early in round three. Teixeira got hold of “OSP’s” back and slammed him down. Teixeira maintained control and went for an arm triangle momentarily. He moved to mount and forced “OSP” to give up his back. He latched on a rear naked choke and put his opponent to sleep.
