Donald Cerrone Bashes Rafael dos Anjos, Accuses Him Of PED Use
Fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is one of the hottest fighters in the UFC, currently riding a spectacular eight-fight win streak. Also being one of the most active fighters on the roster, it seems as if Cerrone will finally settle down and wait, as the UFC has promised him the next crack at lightweight gold.
Although most likely happy about the title shot, “Cowboy” wasn’t happy about the layoff, but newly crowned champion Rafael dos Anjos is nursing multiple injuries, and won’t be available to fight until the end of the year at least.
The two have actually met before, with dos Anjos scoring a one-sided decision win over Cerrone in 2013. However, “Cowboy” has improved immensely since that fight, as has RDA, although Cerrone doesn’t think the champion is fighting clean.
While answering a fan question regarding a timeline for the fight on twitter recently, “Cowboy” stated that the fight will go down whenever dos Anjos cycles off and can pass a drug test, meaning that Cerrone believes the champion is on some sort of performance-enhancing-drugs (PEDs):
“@AustinTAllen: @Cowboycerrone Any news on when you’re beating Dos Anjos?” Whenever he cycles off and can pass the blood test
— Cowboy Cerrone (@Cowboycerrone) July 20, 2015
“@jacwe: @AustinTAllen since “scheduled” to fight RDA can’t you request to have him tested at anytime?” Don’t care, he can stay on it
— Cowboy Cerrone (@Cowboycerrone) July 20, 2015
Dos Anjos, obviously not fond of the comments, then fired back with multiple tweets, bashing Cerrone for some of his previous losses, and promising to make “Cowboy” eat his words. The Brazilian also stated that he’s going to give Cerrone an even worse beating than he did the first time:
@Cowboycerrone Anthony and Diaz beat your ass did you see what I did to them i’ll make sure to give you the worst beating @lorenzofertitta
— Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) July 21, 2015
@Cowboycerrone you’re probably drunk also that I’m a make you eat your words inside the cage @ufc
— Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) July 21, 2015
@danawhite cowboy started this but I promise you i’m going to give him worst beating then The beating I give him already
— Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) July 21, 2015
Do you agree with Cerrone’s brash, and outspoken accusations, or has dos Anjos truly just improved at Kings MMA under his highly-touted coach Rafael Cordeiro?
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the rematch, as both men are clearly different fighters than they were the first time around back in 2013. Will dos Anjos be able to stay on top, or a will a “Cowboy” soon take the throne? Who will you be picking come fight night, whenever that may be?
