Daniel Cormier Tells Jon Jones To ‘Get His S*** Together’ Because He’ll Be Waiting
The dust had barely settled on Daniel Cormier’s dominant submission win over Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson in the main event of last night’s (Sat., May 23, 2015) UFC 187 from Las Vegas when ‘DC’ began looking forward to his new opponent.
Or should we say old opponent, as Cormier is apparently expecting to face former champion Jon Jones, whom he lost a five-round unanimous decision to at January’s UFC 182 after quite possibly the most heated buildup that a UFC bout has ever seen. Cormier only got his second consecutive title shot when ‘Bones’ was stripped of the title and indefinitely suspended after a felony arrest for an alleged hit-and-run where a 25-year-old pregnant woman fractured her arm.
Now that he’s the champion, he called out for Jones to get his affairs in order (in his own special way) because he’ll be waiting for him when the former pound-for-pound king returns to the immediate title shot that Dana White recently promised him. Check out his post-fight interview below:
So the challenge has been issued from Cormier to Jones, and this time around ‘DC” is in the driver’s seat. Yet he may have to defend his belt at least once before he gets his awaited rematch with ‘Bones,’ as the embattled former champ still awaits a New Mexico grand jury’s decision of whether or not to indict him.
That decision should come in a month, but depending on what happens, Jones could be in for a lengthy trial and possibly even considerable jail time. Jones could potentially be out of the fight game for quite awhile, and there’s only so much time that the new champ can sit out without defending the belt.
Still, the ‘Bones’ vs. ‘DC’ rematch would arguably be one of the biggest MMA fights of all-time, and there’s not a whole lot of doubt that it’s going to happen at some point in time. Did ‘DC’ go too far in calling out a man who has no real chance of fighting?
