Fun Times in the NBA

I never thought of myself as an NBA fan. I am a Celtics fan, who's games are the only ones I pretty much bother watching, and I do like basketball, but I'm not a fan of the NBA. Not in the same way that I'm a fan of the NFL, for example.

Lately that's changing. Something about this season makes me want to watch more. And not just more Celtics games (honestly,  the way they have opened the season makes me want to watch less of them). I am actually excited about games, teams, matchups, and most of all, players. I guess in someways it started during last season's western conference semifinals. The Grizzlies – Thunder match-up had a fresh, young vibe to it. It was exciting, it was fun. This season is continuing that trend. Teams that we're so not used to caring about are showing up on highlight reels daily. And it's all about the young studs – a new generation of superstars, even if some of them have been around for a while. It's not one man shows anymore (Kobe) or big threes that might be playing well (Miami) or not (Boston), but rather, tandems are the real story. We knew about Westbrook-Durant,  Paul-Griffin are totally as great as we thought they would be, Love-Rubio are a blast and I could go on.

The shorted season of course doesn't hurt: each game means that much more, teams you want to watch are playing more often than not. But, I really think that the main attractions are the great personas emerging on and off the court.  It is a fun time to be an NBA fan and a great time to become one.
