UFC 195 Medical Suspensions: Robbie Lawler & Carlos Condit Handed 60 Day Stints

Condit Lawler 195

UFC 195 is now in the rear view mirror as the event went down last Saturday (January 2, 2016) live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

From top to bottom, the event proved to be a monumental start to the New Year, and the main event was no different.

Reigning welterweight champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler put his 170-pound strap on the line against former WEC boss and former Interim UFC champ Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit.

The two men went at it for 25 hard minutes, producing fireworks in Vegas as many had expected they would. Each man was rocked, dropped, and bloodied, but in the end it was Lawler that would retain his title via a somewhat controversial split-decision victory.

After a slug fest for the ages, neither man was handed too lengthy of a medical suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), both receiving a two month stint on the sidelines.

The same can’t be said for feature Fight Pass prelim competitor Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier who received a six month suspension. Despite scoring a dominant decision victory over “Irish” Joe Duffy, Poirier suffered quite the gruesome broken nose.
