UFC Fight Night 79 went down this morning (November 28, 2015) from South Korea presented live on UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, former lightweight champion “Smooth” Benson Henderson edged out a close split-decision victory over Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal in a highly technical affair.

This marked Henderson’s second straight win since his move up to 170-pounds, but it also marked the last fight on his current contract with the UFC.

Many felt as if the MMA Lab product hinted that he would be leaving the promotion during his post-fight interview, but he cleared the situation up later on:

“When I retire, it will be retiring in the UFC – I know that for sure,” he told MMAjunkie. “But I’m going to test the market, yes.”

While “Smooth” stated that he would like to retire inside of the Octagon, we have seen multiple fighters recently leave the world’s biggest MMA promotion for better pay. Could Henderson be the next?

Continuing on, the ex-champ said that he wasn’t hinting at anything with his interview, but that he’ll see how the situation unfolds:

“I’m not trying to send any message of any type, but if it plays out a certain way, I want to have some pretty good memories to go out on,” he said.

What do you think Henderson’s next move should be? Should he try to climb up the UFC welterweight rankings, or should he test the market?
