Holm To Rousey On Rematch: Do What You Want To Do

Ronda Rousey Knocked Out By Holly Holm at UFC 193 | The Big Lead

After former UFC women’s bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey was shockingly knocked out by Holly Holm in the main event of last weekend’s (November 14, 2015) UFC 193, the general consensus is that an immediate rematch between the two is the way to go.

UFC president Dana White was quick to say that a rematch would make sense, but there has been some speculation regarding whether or not Rousey will ever even fight again. With a plethora of opportunities away from fighting including acting, the “Rowdy” one doesn’t necessarily need to fight, but it’s hard to believe that she would go out like this.

The newly-crowned 135-pound queen Holm appeared on a recent edition of Inside MMA on AXS TV to discuss the idea of a potential rematch, and she said that Rousey should do what she’s most passionate about.

“The Preacher’s Daughter” also added that despite some pre-fight tension, she has no hard feelings towards the ex-champ:

“I think that, as far as Ronda with the rematch, I feel like for her — do what you want do do. If you’re passionate about it and want to get back and avenge that loss, then great. If you want to focus on other things, great. I’m supportive of any fighter kind of doing what they’re passionate about. [On Ronda not shaking her hand before fight, defending her from scrutiny] I think she kind of had a little bit of an attitude here and there. She’s just there for a fight. Just a lot of emotion getting into the fight and when it comes to the end of the day, she’s just a competitor. I don’t have any hard feelings.”

It’s clear that Rousey will indeed be taking some time off, while shooting multiple movies in the process. It’s thought that she will return next summer at UFC 200 which would be the ideal spot for what will undoubtedly be a monstrous rematch.
