Yesterday (Aug. 28, 2015) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White announced that Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm will be the new headliner for UFC 193 in Melbourne. UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler (26-10, 1 NC) was originally set to defend his title against Carlos Condit (30-8) at Australia’s Etihad Stadium on Nov. 14.

Those plans went awry as “Ruthless” has suffered a thumb injury (via FOX Sports). The “Natural Born Killer” shouldn’t have fears of losing his title opportunity as the bout is expected to be rescheduled. There hasn’t been word of the extent of Lawler’s injury or a return date.

Lawler is fresh (depending on your use of the word) off his brutal TKO victory over Rory MacDonald at UFC 189 last month. “Ruthless” lived up to the nickname as he smashed “Red King’s” nose on his way to his first successful title defense in the UFC. The bloody win also extended the 170-pound ruler’s winning streak to four.

Not to be outdone, Condit also mangled the nose of his last opponent. Thiago Alves had some early success against Condit at UFC Fight Night 67 back in late May, but by the end of the second round his nose was broken and the doctor had seen enough. It was a much needed win for the “Natural Born Killer,” who had gone 1-3 in his last four bouts prior to his clash with “Pitbull.”

While the 170-pound title bout has been postponed, the welterweight division will still be heavily busy in the meantime. The main bout everyone will be looking forward to is one that will likely be for the next crack at the welterweight crown. Former title holder Johny Hendricks will meet Tyron Woodley from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on Oct. 3 for UFC 192.
