Ronda Rousey Is ‘Fine With Not Being Perfect’ In New Reebok Commercial

Ever since former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to Holly Holm lost in shocking and devastating fashion at November 2015’s UFC 193 from Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, the MMA world has seen precious little of their “Rowdy” queen.

Before the loss, Rousey was obviously at the forefront of MMA exploding onto the mainstream scene in a big way, as fans couldn’t turn on the TV or computer without seeing her in some sort of commercial, movie, or interview. But now under a concerning sort of self-imposed exile, Rousey’s return to the octagon is uncertain at best.

However, with the recent news that investment group WME-IMG (who also manage Rousey, coincidentally) purchased the UFC for a staggering $4 billion yesterday, a new Reebok ad featuring Rousey and possibly touting her awaited return surfaced online.

In the commercial, which is part of Reebok’s #PerfectNever campaign, Rousey acknowledges that she would never had a chance at redemption if she had continued running through all opponents with ease as she had for almost three years prior:

“Perfect never gets to silence its critics. Perfect never gets a shot at redemption,” she says in the video. “So yeah, I’m fine not being perfect.”

Rousey’s words in the video would suggest that she’s finally focused on a comeback, which couldn’t necessarily have been said during the last nine months.

In her hiatus, the women’s bantamweight title belt, which she defended six consecutive times with six finishes, has been passed around like hotcakes from Holm to Miesha Tate, who then in turn lost it to Amanda Nunes in the main event of last Saturday’s UFC 200. If and when she does decide to return, it’s no surprise that she’ll receive a shot at whomever has the gold.

If Rousey’s latest Reebok spot is to believed, she wants a shot at revenge.

That should be music to the ears of the UFC’s new owners.
